Myca & Jason - May 29, 2011

Okay... so this had to be one of the most spectacular venues I have ever been privileged to photograph!  Myca was a bridemaid in a wedding that I had previously photographed and had contacted me for her wedding.  When she emailed me the details and her venue choice, I was jumping around beyond excited to say the least.  Myca and Jason's wedding took place in Victoria, British Columbia at Hatley Castle.  Yes you read that right... castle!  The months even days leading up to this wedding felt like forever. This wedding was one of my highlights of the year!

Oh Myca... the dress and the shoes... the SHOES!  You both looked amazing and I am so glad that I was able to join you both with your friends and family on the island for your wedding! Many happy years to the both of you!

Erin & Mark - May 21, 2011

Erin and Mark's wedding was held at the Ramada Hotel in Penticton, British Columbia.  I was so excited since this was going to be my first Penticton Wedding. It was so nice to work with some new locations that include the Munson Mountain Lookout, a orchard ( thank you to the friendly fellow who owned the property and let us shoot there) and Red Rooster Winery.

Thank you so much Mark and Erin for letting me be part of your special day!  I am certain that you both will will have many happy years together!

Your Photograher,

Karla :)

Lincoln//Kelowna Family and Newborn photographer

Now how cute is this little guy! He let me do pretty much anything with him that did not involve being on his belly and he loved to have his toes near his nose!  Interestingly enough, when I got home I did a little reading about newborn photography.  I found out that each newborn will let you pose them depending on their position in the womb.  The article called it their "newborn curl."  Lincoln was a breached baby and as it turns out breached babies like to be on their side and yes... you guessed it... their feet by their face.  So now I am getting much better at figuring out the curl!

Thank you Mike and Kim for letting me capture your new little one's first photos!  Can't wait to get to know Lincoln better!

Paul & Mel ~ February 15, 2011

Okay... where do I start with this wedding?!  Let's just start with... MEXICO!  Yep, the destination for this wedding was the Grand Sirenis Resort in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico.  This could not have been a better setting for a destination wedding to take place.  I felt so privileged to be taken along to capture this gorgeous beach wedding!  Crashing waves, sandy beaches, rocky points, palm trees, mexican flare... oh I could go on and on!

A huge thank you to the both of you for taking me to Mexico with you to capture your day!  I hope you can look at your pictures and relive those moments over and over again!  I know you two will have many more years of memories together!

Your Photographer,

Karla :)

Andrew & Angie ~ January 29,2011

This was one of the coldest days I've shot (I do live in the Okanagan so -10 C classifies as freezing!!!) but the the double you over laughs kept us pushing through!  I had a pretty amazing location to work with which helped!  The groom's sister looks after a ranch way up in the hills of Vernon.  Barns, fields, wooded areas, bridges, mountain views... It was a photographer's dream!

Thank you to Andrew and Angie for all the laughs and letting me capture your day!  I will always watch America's Next Top Model now and remember your wedding!  Haha... BROKEN POSE!  Many happy years to you both!

Piper ~ Newborn Photography

Tim and Mel welcomed little Piper into the world February 3, 2011.  This sweet little baby girl was too cute for words.  I do believe our saying of the day was "so stinking cute".  I think the photos explain why it was repeated over and over and over again!

Congrats to the both of you!!  Enjoy every moment of your new family and can't wait to get to know this little person better :)

Your Photographer,

Karla :)

Luke & Sheena - January 15, 2011

2011 has arrived and this was a perfect winter wedding!  Lots of snow and lots of love.  I have never photographed a more emotional ceremony! There was so many tears from the bride and groom.  I know the bride and groom are always worried about tears and crying but it must be one of the greatest moments for me to be able to capture such emotion!

Thank you both for putting your trust in me as your photographer.  Sheena you will be the one to beat in 2011 for fierceness : )  Those eyes... THOSE EYES!!  Haha...  I just couldn't stop saying it!

Dave & Shandra - September 25, 2010
When I was told this wedding was a backyard wedding, I had no idea a backyard wedding meant natural swimming pools, bamboo gardens, rivers and ponds that where accented with lily pads, stepping stones and bridges! It was one of the most amazing settings for a wedding with one of the most amazing couples! Dave and Shandra are just one of those couples that you can tell are meant to be with one another and just fit!

Thank you both for letting me be part of your wedding day! Many happy years to the both of you!

Your Photographer,
Karla :)

Project 365 Days of Photos

Starting January 1, 2011, I will start taking a photo a day for 365 days.  I am one of those people that tend to go hard out of the gate and then slowly lose wind.  I am really hoping that doesn't happen with this project but with all the support of the others who have joined the challenge, I am thinking I can do it!!

Here goes nothing....

Dave & Shandra - Engaged

Dave and Shandra were married September 25, 2010 as a friends beautiful estate as their setting (Blog coming soon)!  However, a few weeks before the wedding Shandra contacted me wanting not necessarily an engagement shoot but a "get rid of the wedding day photo jitters" shoot.  And l can not tell you how much they needed not to worry!  They were so natural and fun in front of the camera whispering "sweet nothings" (haha) to one another.

A pre-wedding shoot is always a good idea to become acquainted with  your photographer and to work out those photo jitters.  It also gives great opportunity to showcase your photos in a album for guests to sign on your wedding day!

Ivy Rose

My good friends Dan and Bailey recently welcomed their darling little girl, Ivy, into the world.  I was so grateful to be asked to take her first portraits. If these photos are any indication of how beautiful she will grow up to be, she is going to be breaking hearts!

Lots of thanks and a huge shout out to Daniela Sitar for coming along and working her baby whispering skills on little Ivy!

Ed & Desirae & Boone

This shoot was alot of fun!  I was pretty excited when Ed and Desirae showed up and had the third member of their family Boone with them! The word of the day was "cookie".  Usually this is my bribe for toddlers but works well with four legged toddlers as well : )

I hope you both many more happy memories together!

Tim & Mel & Feen Bean

I came across this spot when I was riding my horse the other week and could not wait to shoot this location!  What better subjects then my good friends Tim and Mel who will be welcoming their baby into the world in February.  I was pretty excited about with how the location and my props all worked so well together!

Can't wait until February to meet the Feen Bean : )
